Golf around Wigtown

Wigtown and Bladnoch’s nine hole parkland course (only 1 mile away) with spectacular views over Wigtown Bay, the Galloway Hills and the Machars peninsula.

Newton Stewart (5 miles away) is a challenging 18 hole parkland course with fantastic views from every green.  This is a great course, I’m slightly biased though ‘cause I’m Past Ladies Captain!

St Medans (10 miles away) is totally different, positioned between two lovely beaches this is a links course you will never forget!!  Only nine holes though.

Wigtownshire County (15 miles away) is a beautiful 18 hole course again on a lovely beach.  Pony trekking is also available along this beach.

Within 25 miles there is also the Championship course at Stranraer and the stunning Dunskey (Portpatrick) Course overlooking the village of Portpatrick, Portpatrick Harbour and Bay. Both 18 holes.

In the other direction there is a hilly course at Gatehouse and a challenging parkland course overlooking the lovely harbour town of Kirkcudbright.  Kirkcudbright is Dumfries and Galloway’s Artist's Town with lots of galleries and antique shops – well worth a visit.

We are open all year, so you can enjoy a holiday at Glenturk at anytime.  Play golf on the numerous excellent local courses or why not visit the famous Turnberry Hotel just 40 minutes away.  Visit Kirroughtree Forest Park with its excellent walking, cycling and, for the more adventurous, the 7Stanes mountain biking trails, all just seven miles away.  An Off-Road 4 Wheel Drive Centre is based on a neighbouring farm and for something completely different why not try Tank Driving! or visit a Scottish Whisky distillery at Bladnoch.

Wigtown

The small, bustling market town of Wigtown is known as the Scotland's Booktown, located in the South West of Scotland it has a rich heritage and strong culture.

Visit Scottish Whisky Distillery

This region has the most southern distillery in Scotland. Bladnoch distillery produces a fine smooth and clear single malt Scotch Whisky.  You can visit the whisky distillery visitor centre and taste a wee dram, and enjoy it after a meal in one of the many hotels and restaurants in the area.

No queues in Galloway !

After your visit to the scottish whisky distillery, Dumfries and Galloway can be enjoyed either on foot, by bicycle or by car, and if you choose the easy option you will be surprised at the lack of queues and traffic jams!

Gardens

Warmed by the Gulf Stream, the area enjoys a mild climate and has all year round attractions. There are over 30 Gardens to visit including Logan Botanic Garden which is Scotland's most exotic garden. Scotland's school for gardeners showcase, Threave Gardens, Broughton House Garden and Glenwhan are just a few of the others.

Where are the crowds?

Is there a place as beautiful as the Cotswolds? as stunning as the Lake District? as remote as the Hebrides? as wild as the Cornish Coast?

It's all here except one thing - the crowds !!!!
